Tom Peat was born in St. Catharines and was one of the most Niagara's most accomplished athletes. He began his exceptional four year collegiate in 1983. He and teammate Mark Nelson were the first ever to win not only one but three consecutive CCAA national badminton titles from 1984-1987. Among Tom's other accomplishments were four OCAA and West Regional titles from 1983-87, one Western Ontario Junior Championships, three Eastern U.S.A. Junior Doubles Titles and one OFSSA Doubles Championship. He was also a three time Co-Athlete of the Year from 1984-86, three-time All Canadian from 1985-87, an OCAA athlete of the week, and received the Niagara College Award of Excellence.
